Women Strong, Country Strong!

Women are the architects of the society. They help us to build the society in a better shape. To honour the women, Women’s Day is celebrated and activities, rallies, events happen all over the world. The theme of International Women’s Day is 2018 is #pressforprogress. A strong hash tag for all the users in the world.

Government is also taking various initiatives to lessen the discrimination of gender inequality. Our beloved Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi who is a technology freak initiated selfie with daughter campaign as he knew the evil effects of female feticide. He even started campaigns like “Beti bachao Beti padhao” for better upliftment of women in the Society. The campaign has been really successful with social media applauding the approach taken by the government.

I see a lot of positivity in recent times. Women are coming forward and speaking against the injustice done. The entire #MeToo campaign was so shocking and eye opening. It pains to see the number of women who came on my news feed during the campaign but it is good that they are coming forward.

I was really inspired by the campaign #startwiththeboys by #VogueEmpower which featured Madhuri Dixit. The campaign beautifully explained that we teach our “tough boys” not to cry, but instead we should teach them not to make women in their lives cry. These small things can bring about a big change.

Let’s take insight from the most influential women in the world.

Marry Barra, CEO of General Motors whose father was a die maker in a car company , she with her knowledge and adaptive skills has become the first female CEO of major global automaker. She says “Do every job you are in like you are going to do it for the rest of your life and demonstrate the ownership of it.”

Also Chanda Kochhar, CEO of ICICI Bank who started her career like anyone of us didn’t let the black holes of economy run down the fortune. Infact she took the destiny in her own hands and shaped the retail industry by her insight and farsightedness. She says “Don’t give up something just because you think you can’t do it.”

Today initiatives are been taken by celebrities to empower women in India. Movies like Mary Kom, Dangal inspired many to take up sports as their career.

Also recent cinemas like Toilet Ek Prem Katha & Padman have been applauded and are motivating women to stand up for their rights.

This year also marked the great effort put by India women cricket team in the world cup making India proud. They were the runners up team with some spectacular performances by Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur.

A woman is a calm selfless bravo and is elegant in her own way.

Remember, never doubt your power and value. We deserve every chance and opportunity to dream, achieve and shine. When our government is making herculean efforts , when some extra ordinary talents are making us proud, let’s be conscious of our rights and avail maximum benefit of the opportunities to make our nation strong and proud!

As they say

“Women Strong, Country strong”
