Mrs Funnybones by Twinkle Khanna: Review

Mrs Funny Bones by Twinkle Khanna

The book is about simple living and different yet smart thinking. She expresses the sub conscious mind of every woman. What I like the most is the A-Z index, short anecdotes from the life of author expressing the mind share of every woman. It is also the highest selling book in by a female writer.

The book revolves around the day to day family soap. The funny thing I observed is all families are the same with more or less the petty differences prevailing. The difference which the book creates is the author’s witty brain full of drama and humour.

It is about a woman who is a daughter a wife a mother a daughter in law the home maker and an entrepreneur, how she has to become the Durga and yet also manages to have a space of her own.

Some of the quick witted punches worth highlighting are

Don’t look down on people because then they can see the crap stuck up your nostrils

Box every watchman liftman and other random man who don’t even say namaste the whole year round but arrive early in the morning on Diwali with a grin and hand sticking out.

The UN states that men with longest life expectancy are from Japan followed by Switzerland. We have been doing Karwa Chauth to make sure our men have long lives; I scan the list, confident that in this chart of life expectancy, Indian man must be in definitely top5. Nope! There are 146 countries above us where the men have longer life spans.

This book is a therapy to the tired minds. It is gripping and amazing. Even if someone doesn’t give away much time to reading, he/she will enjoy this book for many reasons, it is endearing, real and well written.

The notes at the onset of each chapter are amusing and full of worldly and street smart wisdom which will come across as handy to almost every woman. All in all, the book is a fun read and I will, therefore, recommend it as a must-read to all non-fiction readers.

I am eagerly looking forward to read her next….
